The château nestles at the heart of a 13-hectare property of woods and meadows, offering panoramic views over the Breton countryside from every window. It is the ideal setting in which to relax:
- Private walks along the property’s wooded paths.
- Heated saltwater outdoor swimming pool (open from May to September).
- Outdoor spaces perfect for open-air activities and unwinding.
Period drawing rooms and reception spaces
The interior of the château combines old-world charm with modern comfort through bright, adaptable communal spaces:
- The two large drawing rooms: dual-aspect and interconnecting, they feature period painted panelling and working fireplaces. Ideal for socialising or relaxing.
- The meeting & multimedia space: the small sitting room is fitted with a TV screen and a DVD / Blu-ray player, and easily converts into a meeting room for your business seminars.
- The welcoming dining room: south-facing and dominated by a handcrafted wood-burning stove. Its adaptable table comfortably seats 12 to 14 people, and up to 20 depending on the layout.
Our story
From the Highlands of Scotland to the Breton Countryside
In 2007, our family left the lochs and rocky hills of the Scottish Highlands to settle in the rolling landscape of the Morbihan. It was a choice guided by a love of old stone and a shared Celtic culture, swapping the legend of Loch Ness for the myths of King Arthur and Merlin.
This renovation project was a truly human adventure:
- 2007: work begins and impromptu camping in the château (among the swallows in summer and the hot-water bottles in winter!).
- 2009: moving into the freshly renovated adjoining farmhouse (longère).
- 2016: completion of the château’s main restoration work and the official opening of our bed and breakfast.
Today the adventure continues as a family of three, carried by the memory and the immense work of Colin (who passed away in 2018), whose building expertise shaped the property.

Having returned to the property in 2018 to help run the business, she enriches our guests’ experience with the culinary talents she developed around the world.

Trained by his father, he now works as an interior designer in Rennes and watches over the aesthetic harmony of the place.

Over 600 years of history
The history of the château
To stay here is to immerse yourself in over 600 years of history.
The origins and the great lineages (14th – 21st century)
The first stones of the property are said to have been laid in 1370. Once recorded as La Ville Veysin in the inventories of the bishopric of Saint-Malo, the manor became a château in the 19th century. It has belonged to illustrious Breton families:
- Jean du Boisguehenneuc (1480): who acquired it through his marriage to Guilleminette Voisin.
- The successive families: Buisnard (1472), de Madaillan (1679), de Lambilly, de Talhouët (1737), de Sauvignhac (1770).
- The du Boisbaudry and de Foucault family (1887-2007): the last historic owners before we fell under its spell in 2007.
Architecture and secrets of the property
The château boasts a classical style, characterised by its rectangular tower with a four-sided hipped roof.
- Heraldic coat of arms: carved in stone and reproduced on the dining-room fireplace is the arms of the du Bois Baudry family. the coat of arms features a gold shield with two black horizontal bands bearing silver roundels. In heraldry, these bands known as fesses, traditionally symbolise military honour, loyalty, and steadfastness. The family have had close connections in the past to the nearby military camp at Coetquidan.
- Local materials: the two towers and splendid early-20th-century Italian-style arcades (Venetian style) link the château to the coach house. They were built with reclaimed stone from a neighbouring manor (since replaced by the Château de la Grée de Callac).
- Traces of the past: the property supposedly lies near a former Roman road and cross roads where white quartz was also quarried. The grounds preserve remnants of local life of times past: a traditional bread oven and its well at the farm, the old circular laverie (spring fed pond) where the washing was done to the north, and the former forest rides which provide the current walkways through the woods.
- Religious heritage: on the edge of the woods (at the Augan / Caro boundary), you can see a 160 cm monolithic granite cross, a testament to the faith and traditions of Christian Brittany.
